Website Outage

We were unfortunately the victims of a hacker who disrupted a number of websites where our site is hosted. Hopefully the security hole has been rectified and this won't happen again! Its a shame that we can't find them and put them into our nets and let loose with the bowling machine to teach them a lesson.

SYDENHAM CRICKET CLUB AGM WILL BE HELD IN THE CLUBROOMS ON WEDNESDAY 19TH AUGUST AT 7PM.

This is a very important AGM as there will be some changes to the club involving a formal structure to the complex committee. This will be in the form of a resolution that will need to be passed at the AGM. The formality will enable the new committee/trust to control the assets of the cricket and hockey clubs.

This is just part of the overall picture involving the clubroom renovations, which will also be discussed at the AGM.

Hopefully you understand the importance of what the club is going thru now and in the future, so please get to the AGM and have your say.

COST $10.00 per person (quality supper included!)
TEAMS of 4 people each

FORMAT 5 rounds of 10 questions
each question worth varying points
each round worth 20 points
for a grand total of 100 points.

Make sure you team your teams together and get aloong to the club!!!

Make sure you attend the Xmas party on Saturday 13th December. The 2 presidents teams are playing each other for the new trophy in memory of Noel Moorhead. Come on down at join in the festivities! There will be a BBQ ($10) and happy hour. Make it an evening!

Congratulations to the Cardinals President's team on winning the Graham Frampton Memorial Trophy off BWU on the weekend. Good luck with your defenses.

The Sydenham Cricket Club is having a special AGM on Monday 20 October, 7.30pm in the clubrooms.
The purpose of the meeting is to determine which plan to accept for the alterations to the clubrooms.
This is your time to give your thoughts and opinions and choose the clubrooms you would like to see in the future.
Also at this meeting will be the election of Life Members.

The website is being updated with a new "look and feel" over the next few weeks! If there are any problems, please be patient while we work through the site.

The 2007 AGM is to held at the Sandridge Restaurant on Monday 27 August 2007 @ 7:30pm. Please come along and participate in this important club event. The Annual Report will also be taled at this meeting!

2006/07

Congratulation again to Mike Shimpton who was honoured with the Sutcliffe Medal for outstanding services to cricket at the recent NZ Cricket awards.

Obituary
The club would like to note the sad passing of one of the "legends" of the club, Noel Moorhead, aged 77.
Noel who was made a life member of the club in 1992 and was still actively playing Presidents grade cricket three seasons ago.
Noel passed away at 5pm on Saturday after suffering a massive stroke.
His service will be held Friday 11th May at Westpark Chapel, 467 Wairakei Rd at 2pm, followed by a function at the Clubrooms.
Please join the club in supporting Noel's family and farewelling a true friend of the Sydenham Cricket Club.

Mike Shrimpton wins Coaching Award
The Senior Men's coach Mike Shrimpton has been awarded the CCA Club Coach of the year at the recent annual awards evening. This is a recognition of his guidence to the senior teams sucessful season, including winning the 1 day competition, after returning to the "top" grade this season. Well done Mike!

The club was recently successful in obtaining the Sports Canterbury CLUBMARK GOLD AWARD. This is a major coup for the club as we believe we are the first cricket club to obtain this honour. This means that our club has squeaky clean processes involving health and safety, financial accountability, and compliance with legal requirements. In other words we act like a professional organisation. Well done to all those involved in getting the club this award.

Sydenham has finally won the one day club final after an excellent win against Old Boys Collegians at Elmwood Park. Check out some of the photos taken on the day and read a bit about the game.

Sydenham has reached its second sucessive one day club final after an exciting finish against East Shirley at Burwood Park. Set 215 to win, Sydenham recovered from a precarious position of 4 for 38 to take the match in the 49th over. Ben Orton and Andrew Fullerton-Smith set the platform for the recovery, putting on 80 for the fifth wicket, while Craig Ross ans Chris Small kept the run rate going, with Small hitting the winning runs with an off drive for four.
Sydenham will play OBC in the final, to be played on March 4.
Make sure we get out and support the team for the final. Lets bring the title home this time!!!
